There is an hour in the Caribbean when the light turns to honey and the sea goes quiet, and a certain kind of week built to meet it. Sandals Jamaica Caribbean Cay, the couples-only (adults-only), all-inclusive resort near Montego Bay, is an excellent start to experiencing the world of Luxury Included® that only Sandals delivers. A Sandals escape is the perfect time to unwind, so plan long enough for a few indulgent days and one day to do nothing at all. Here is what a week of bliss looks like.
Reopening December 18, 2026
Sandals Jamaica Caribbean Cay, formerly Sandals Royal Caribbean, reopens on December 18, 2026, after closing in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, the Category 5 storm that struck Jamaica in late October 2025.
The resort returns reimagined as part of Sandals’ US$200 million “Sandals 2.0” transformation of three Jamaican resorts. An open-air lobby frames the main pool and the sea beyond, and the pool itself is bigger and redesigned for a lighter, more open feel. There are 84 new rooms, bringing the total to 291, including 12 new SkyPool Suites, plus a new fitness center with ocean views, Suppa restaurant and Parisol Beach Club.
Across Jamaica, tourism is rebuilding with purpose. Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett reported in September that about 80 per cent of hotel inventory had reopened, and the government has funded global marketing to restore and surpass visitor arrivals. Airlines have committed 1.32 million seats for January through April 2027, up 23.5 per cent, per the Jamaica Tourist Board. Prefer a shorter escape? A long weekend holds many of the same pleasures.
A Week at Caribbean Cay, Night by Night
Day 1: Arrival
Arrival is effortless. Round-trip airport transfers are included, and a lounge welcomes you at the airport. Settle into your suite, then give the first evening to the pleasure of choosing. With more than half a dozen restaurants on property, plus a coffee house and a rum bar, there is a great deal of dinner to consider. Look over every option, and let the Culinary Concierge Desk reserve your tables.
Day 2: Settle In
Mornings begin at Blum Coffee, where Jamaica Blue Mountain beans are brewed as espresso, cold brew or slow pour and served with pastries spiced the island way. Breakfast is part of every day here. Then claim a lounger: eight pools and six whirlpools, and a swim-up bar at the water’s edge. For dinner, step into Bombay for Indian cuisine in a setting that hums with energy, then enjoy the day and night entertainment, including live shows.
Day 3: Island Day
Take the complimentary water taxi to the resort’s private offshore island. Snorkeling and equipment, paddleboards, kayaks and Hobie Cats are all included, and the Jerk Shack serves smoky grilled jerk for lunch. Stay for Parisol Beach Club, a new open-air venue by the sea with its own swim-up pool bar, where island-inspired dishes make for dinner with the water at your feet.
Day 4: Spa and Dining
Book a restorative treatment at the Red Lane Spa, whose treatments are rooted in Caribbean tradition. In the evening, begin with a rum at Keynote, then settle in at Suppa, a new supper-style restaurant inspired by Sunday dinner in a Jamaican home.
Day 5: Beneath the Surface
Certified divers can explore the world beneath the sea through the resort’s scuba program. Dinner is at Tesoro, an Italian restaurant known for traditional Southern Italian pastas. For a change of scene afterward, Stay at 1, Play at 2 offers complimentary round-trip transportation to the restaurants and bars at nearby Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay.
Day 6: A Free Day
Leave this one open on purpose. Sleep in, return to the pool or beach, or try croquet. In a Butler Suite, this is the day your butler’s attention and after-hours in-room dining matter most. When you do venture out, dinner is at Strand, a seafood restaurant on the shoreline, named for the Dutch word for beach.
Day 7: A Taste of Jamaica
The Martha Brae Bamboo River Rafting trip is a quiet counterpoint to the beach. Settle onto a 30-foot bamboo raft and drift through the jade-green water of Trelawny, beneath tropical greenery. Island Routes typically offers it as an additional add on, but under the current sale it becomes an included add on for two, for stays of five or more paid nights, registered within 72 hours of booking and reserved at the Island Routes desk on property, with limited capacity. By evening, toast the week at The Cricketers Pub, a proper British pub with pub classics and a good pint.
Day 8: Departure
Take one last unhurried morning by the sea before your round-trip airport transfer carries you to the airport.
